Sudharani Doloiram Pathak College of Teacher Education popularly known as S.D.P College of Teacher Education is the premier and the oldest teacher training institution of Nalbari district, has a remarkable influence on this district’s social, political, literary and educational spheres. This college was established in the year 1994 with an intention of imparting training to young graduates to become efficient and effective teachers at the secondary school level. Our college has completed almost thirty years of service, which is a magnificent moment of delight and satisfaction. I joined this institution as the principal with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment. It is my immense pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all the trainees, parents, educators, alumni and visitors to our college website. As a teacher education institution, our mission is to prepare competent, compassionate and reflective teachers who can contribute meaningfully to nation-building. Education is not merely the transmission of knowledge; it is the awakening of human values, potential and social responsibility. In the light of the visionary framework of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, our institution is committed to promoting multidisciplinary, learner-centered, value-based and holistic education. NEP-2020 emphasizes on critical thinking, experiential learning, inclusiveness and digital literacy which are considered as skills of 21st century. In our college, we continuously strive to align our academic practices with these transformative ideals. I do believe that teachers are the architects of the society. A teacher not only imparts knowledge but also inspires one to be a lifelong learner. Therefore, our institution focuses on nurturing future educators who are intellectually competent, ethically grounded, socially sensitive and professionally committed. Our college has a vibrant academic environment with smart classrooms, digital library, ICT Lab., Psychological Lab., Language Lab., Science Lab., fully air-conditioned multipurpose hall and art & craft room. This encourages innovation, collaboration, community engagement and cultural enrichment among the trainees and faculty members as well. In our college the B.Ed course is affiliated to Gauhati University and recognized by NCTE; whereas D.El.Ed course is administered by SCERT at state level. We are privileged to have experienced and competent faculty members whose committed service has played a vital role in maintaining the institution's proud legacy and distinguished reputation. As we move forward, let us all—teachers, students, parents and stakeholder-work together to foster an academic culture rooted in excellence integrity, inclusivity and empathy. "On 1st May 1994, the educationally enlightened people of the greater Tihu area established Sudharani Doloiram Pathak College of Education, Tihu with an aim to serve the purpose of teacher training programme. The institute has got the recognition of NCTE, Bhubaneswar in the year 2001 and has been affiliated to Gauhati University. I am happy to announce that in 2019 our beloved institute has completed a glorious journey of 25 years of serving its purpose and during this time it has trained more than 2000 student teachers to become the skilled and efficient teachers of our society. With due permission of the NCTE, Bhubaneswar the institute has also introduced the D.El.Ed. programme from the year 2017 in order to create trained teachers for all the levels of education. It is an honour for me to be connected with this prestigious institution since its inception. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Tihu town for giving me the opportunity to serve the institution. The students’ outcome of our institution in both the D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. programmes is highly praiseworthy. I am sure our institution will continue to cater to the needs of the teacher trainees by providing them a platform to develop and explore the skills necessary for the prospective teachers. "Established on 1st May 1994, Sudharani Doloiram Pathak College of Teacher Education (S.D.P. College of Teacher Education), Tihu was founded with a vision to provide quality teacher education and contribute to the development of skilled educators. Over the years, the institution has earned recognition from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and affiliation with Gauhati University, emerging as one of the most respected teacher training institutions in the region. For more than three decades, the college has remained committed to shaping competent, responsible, and future-ready educators serving society across various educational sectors, the institution continues to uphold its legacy of academic excellence and professional development. The introduction of the D.El.Ed. programme further strengthened our mission of preparing qualified teachers for foundational and school-level education. Guided by the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the college promotes a learner-centric, inclusive, and holistic approach to education. Our focus extends beyond academic achievement to nurturing critical thinking, ethical values, digital competence, creativity, and social responsibility among aspiring teachers.
